Windows Task Manager

A system utility on Windows-based systems that allows the user to monitor running programs and view information about them.

Access

  • Ctrl+Alt+Delete then select Task Manager
  • Ctrl+Shift+Esc
  • Right-click an empty area of the task bar and select Task Manager
  • Windows+X then select Task manager
Task Manager Tab Description
Processes View the status of all current applications running on the system.
Performance View processor, memory, disk, and network performance statistics.
App History View statistics on how long an application has been running on the system.
Startup Toggle applications that run on system startup.
Users Monitor users that are currently logged into the system, and disconnect them.
Details View the status of all current processes running on the system, the amount of processing power and memory they're using, and terminated unwanted processes.
Services View the list of active services running on the computer. Stop, start, and/or restart any service as needed.
