Attenuation
The loss of signal strength over a network medium.
Attenuation is measured in decibels (dB), which is a ratio between two measurements - the signal strength at the origin (where it's the strongest) and the signal strength at the destination.
dB represents the ratio between the two values on a logarithmic scale.
- +5dB means 5 times the ratio
- +2dB means doubling
