Received Signal Strength Indicator
aliases:
- RSSI
A measure of a wireless signal's strength as measured at the receiver, measured using either decibel units or an index value.
If a client vendor prefers to use index values to measure the signal strength, the most common ranges are 0-60, 0-127, or 0-255.
When measuring with dBm, negative values that are closest to zero represent better performance, In fact, -30 dBm is considered perfect signal, -65 dBm is good signal, and anything lower than -80 dBm will most likely suffer packet loss.
